WCCRC Advocates for Housing at the Albany Capitol
WCCRC staff joined NYS Rural Advocates and the Neighborhood Preservation Coalition for advocacy day at the Albany Capitol. The day involved a rally in the well of the Legislative Office Building sponsored by Senator Brian Kavanagh and Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal, who both gave riveting speeches. We then met individually with our legislators to discuss the needs of rural New Yorkers and the importance of safe and affordable housing. We also encouraged our legislators to support funding of the Rural Preservation Program and the many grant programs that allow us to assist our communities.
Joining WCCRC Executive Director Antonia Besculides were staff from other local organizations including Rose Chase Executive Director of Schoharie County Rural Preservation Company, Luke Beemer Housing Development Coordinator at M-Ark Project, and Charles Bailey Housing Director at Delaware Opportunities.
